A jury found Equinox Holdings liable for disability discrimination and retaliation after firing a personal trainer while he was on protected medical leave
 (Hugyetz v. Equinox Holdings, Nov. 2025).

Age Discrimination
Los Angeles, CA — $20,000,000

A jury originally awarded $103 million for age discrimination and harassment, but a Los Angeles Superior Court judge struck down $83 million in punitive damages in May 2026, leaving a $20 million award intact (Slagel v. Liberty Mutual Insurance Co.).

Workplace Retaliation
Los Angeles, CA — $24,358,344
A jury originally awarded approximately $155.4 million, but the trial court reduced the punitive damages award to $18.945 million, resulting in a total judgment of approximately $24,358,344, which the California Court of Appeal affirmed. (Rudnicki v. Farmers Insurance Exchange, et al.).

Los Angeles, CA — $7,020,000

A jury awarded former Baldwin Park Police Chief Lili Hadsell $7 million in a gender discrimination, harassment, and retaliation case (Hadsell v. City of Baldwin Park, 2019).

Los Angeles, CA — $8,620,542
A jury awarded $2,873,514 in compensatory damages and $13.8 million in punitive damages. The appellate court upheld liability but reduced the punitive damages, resulting in a surviving total of approximately $8,620,542 (Moland v. McWane, Inc.).

Sexual Harassment
Orange County, CA — $3,500,000
A San Diego County jury awarded $3,500,000 to a longtime Orange County deputy district attorney after finding the County liable for sexual harassment by her supervisor. The County has indicated it may appeal the verdict (Cope-Vega v. County of Orange, Feb. 2026).

Whistleblower Retaliation
Los Angeles, CA — $52,460,862
A jury found Sysco Riverside, Inc. liable for retaliating against five former drivers and yard workers after they raised safety and food-handling concerns during their employment. Jurors awarded approximately $31 million in compensatory damages and $21 million in punitive damages (Williams et al. v. Sysco Riverside, Inc., Feb. 2026).

Los Angeles, CA — $8,620,542
A jury awarded $2,873,514 compensatory and $13.8 million punitive damages. The appellate court upheld liability but reduced the punitive damages to $5,747,028, resulting in a surviving total of approximately $8,620,542 (Moland v. McWane, Inc.).

Whistleblower Retaliation
Sacramento County, CA — $16,883,723
A jury awarded a former California prison psychologist approximately $16.9 million after finding she was retaliated against for raising workplace safety concerns. The verdict included damages for whistleblower retaliation, FEHA retaliation, and defamation (Fischgrund v. California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, 2025)

Los Angeles, CA — $13,121,358
A jury awarded two LAPD officers more than $13.1 million after finding the City of Los Angeles liable for gender discrimination and retaliation. The California Court of Appeal later reinstated the original jury awards (Glick et al. v. City of Los Angeles).

A jury awarded a police officer $8.4 million after finding race discrimination, retaliation, failure to prevent discrimination and retaliation, and constructive termination (Byer v. City of La Palma, 2025).

Whistleblow Retaliation
Contra Costa County, CA — $1,550,000
A Contra Costa County jury awarded a former employee $1.55 million after finding she was terminated in retaliation for reporting conduct she reasonably believed was unlawful. The verdict was returned under California Labor Code § 1102.5 (Lee v. Kingsford Capital Management, LLC, Dec. 2024).

Los Angeles, CA — $4,000,000
A jury awarded a Los Angeles police officer $4 million after finding she was subjected to a hostile work environment. The California Court of Appeal later upheld the jury's verdict (Carranza v. City of Los Angeles).
