Katherine (Katie) Roussos

Employment Attorney

Katie started her career as a union staff member, working both as an organizer and supporting the legal department of the New York Hotel & Motel Trades Council, AFL-CIO. In law school, at the City University of New York, she continued to pursue a career in supporting working people. She was a recipient of the Peggy Browning Fund Fellowship, a grant for law students pursuing labor and employment law, and throughout her legal education focused on laws impacting employees.

After law school she worked in the fast-paced world of housing litigation, representing tenants facing eviction in New York City. There Katie gained extensive courtroom experience, appearing up to four days a week in housing court. Katie moved to California and continued her work defending tenants, preventing evictions and forcing landlords to adhere to California law. Katie had one of her biggest successes as a housing attorney when she secured a $70,000 settlement for a client who’s landlord attempted to use loopholes in the law to evict her from her subsidized housing. Amid growing her skills as an attorney, she always hoped to get back to her original goal of supporting worker’s rights.

Now at the Ottinger Firm P.C. Katie uses her knowledge of both California and New York law to passionately represent employees in their workplace related disputes.
