FMLA Violations
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is your legal protection when you need to take unpaid, job-protected time off from work for the following: 1) to take medical leave because of a serious health condition; 2) to care for a sick family member (spouse, child or parent) with a serious health condition; 3) for the birth and care of your newborn child; 4) for the initial care of a child placed with you for adoption or foster care.
For the above situations, an employer must allow you a total of 12 weeks unpaid leave during any 12-month period, and must allow you to return to your job or a similar job after you have completed your leave.
FMLA leave is available to both men and women in all sections of the workforce, from blue-collar laborers to corporate executives. For more information on your rights under the FMLA, please see the informational links below and the FAQ.
