FMLA Violations

The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is your legal protection when you need to take unpaid, job-protected time off from work for the following: 1) to take medical leave because of a serious health condition; 2) to care for a sick family member (spouse, child or parent) with a serious health condition; 3) for the birth and care of your newborn child; 4) for the initial care of a child placed with you for adoption or foster care.

For the above situations, an employer must allow you a total of 12 weeks unpaid leave during any 12-month period, and must allow you to return to your job after you have completed your leave.

FMLA leave is available to both men and women in all sections of the workforce, from blue-collar laborers to corporate executives. For more information on your rights under the FMLA, please see the informational links below and the FAQ.
