Discrimination Based on Association
Discrimination based on association with individuals of a certain race is illegal. For example, an employer may not discriminate against an employee because he or she is married to, or is friends with, someone of a particular race. It is also illegal for an employer to discriminate against an employee based on his or her membership in, or association with, ethnic-based organizations or groups, or attendance or participation in schools or places of worship generally associated with certain ethnic groups.
